Abstract | It is estimated 15% of adults worldwide have a disability (Hughes et al, 2012), with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), affecting an estimated 1.1% of the adult population in England (Brugha et al, 2012). This article offers a perspective from the United Kingdom (UK), where there is significant legislation in place relating to ASD and other disabilities that are aimed age equality, inclusion and protection of rights as citizens.
