Chapter Aims:
After reading this chapter you will be able to:
Understand the anatomy and physiology of the cardiac system.
Understand the pathophysiology of coronary heart disease, particularly ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).
Have an awareness of ECG interpretation in relation to STEMI.
Demonstrate your ability to contribute to an assessment of the cardiac patient.
Identify the priorities of care to treat a patient with STEMI and the role of the nursing associate within this.
