| Description | A granular reworking of a rave classic created using software I have developed for live algorithmic improvisation. Part of the ongoing Dane Law project which explores the musical affordances of the laptop, and ways of re-presenting and reworking our collective musical past. This was created for Astral Plane Recordings for their Astraltopia compilation. Astraltopia is the third and final compilation in the Topia series, as well as the terminal release in the Astral Plane Recordings catalog. Astraltopia traverses outgrowths of past label releases, novel sonic formulations and the infra-zones between and underneath extant club sounds. Accompanied by artwork from Sam Meier and mastering by Will Mitchell, the compilation follows 2012’s Heterotopia and 2015’s Psychotropia, both of which preceded the formal inauguration of Astral Plane Recordings. Also includes contributions from Alis, Amazondotcom, CHANTS, LOFT, Maral, MICHAELBRAILEY (with Iceboy Violet), nunu and SHALT. |
