Abstract | The diagnosis of TS is an important event in the lives of the affected child and her family. This diagnosis is usually completely unexpected because most families have never heard of TS. There are also the challenges of explaining the likelihood of infertility because of the gonadal dysgenesis. The possibility of therapy for several years with GH also needs to be discussed and explained. TS is a multi-system disorder also associated with an increased risk of autoimmune problems such as hypothyroidism. Cardiac problems and deafness may occur and life-long care is required. The diagnosis needs to be explained by both the endocrinologist and the specialist nurse who can combine to form an effective team |
