Abstract | Rhythm control drugs are used to terminate arrhythmias, and/or to prevent their recurrence. They are a heterogenous group of medicines with a wide range of indications, mechanisms and pharmacological properties. In this second article in a three-part series, three commonly used rhythm control drugs are evaluated; adenosine, amiodarone and flecainide. In addition to describing each drug and its uses, important practice points are identified with the aim of promoting safe prescribing and administration. |
