Abstract | An investigation is conducted on the acoustical and structural properties of sandwich composite beams comprising polyurethane glass beads set in a matrix of epoxy resin core between two fibreglass sheets in order to assess their suitability for engineering applications, especially in urban, built-up or noisy environments. Transmission Loss (TL) and absorption coefficient of composite samples were determined using transfer function method. Experiments are conducted in order to determine the modulus of elasticity of the fibreglass sheets, the compressive strength of the bead core. |
