Abstract | The chemical composition of fingerprint residue is complex and highly variable. Several components are susceptible to chemical modifications following deposition, which can have a significant impact on fingerprint recovery. In more recent years, interest has increased significantly in the information that can be gained from the chemical constituents of latent fingerprints, both from the perspective of fingerprint detection, and the potential to gain further intelligence from this type of evidence. |
