Abstract | Jurisprudence can be put to work to open the minds of neophyte students, whose past educational experiences have been in many ways narrowing. Three useful distinctions are explored: conclusory verdicts from motivations, reasons and justifications; factive from normative; and incontestable from uncontested-contestable and contested-contestable concepts. A tentative taxonomy of concept-contestation is offered. Whilst the paper concentrates on ‘Why try?’, it concludes with some suggestions of ‘How to?’ |
